I may be a little biased because I have a paid subscription, but this app goes above and beyond text stories, including video clips, audio clips and pictures to accompany the stories. “Page-turning” is flawless and quick. A great app for those interested in news and finances.
NPR for iPad
This might be the best news app for the iPad. NPR completely re-designed the app to be iPad friendly. With slideshow-esque listings by category and easy-to-navigate lists, plus the ability to read text articles while streaming your favorite show, this app is flat out incredible.

The Guardian Eyewitness
For the more visual among us, the Guardian Eyewitness app selects one impressive photo from news journalists and displays it with a short caption. If you select a different option, it offers you a professional photography tip. With stunning photos of current events, this app definitely embodies the old “a picture’s worth a thousand words” adage.
