Virgin Radio iPhone app skimpy on content, but extra features add value

No one will accuse Virgin Radio of stuffing their app with quantity over quality when it comes to picking radio stations. That’s because this cozy music app only has five stations to choose from, and all of them promise to play “All the hits.” That means that they’re essentially five stations running the same playlists.

With no variety, you’d be hard-pressed to download this app unless you absolutely loved one of these Virgin Radio stations. But If you did love one of those stations, you’d be in luck because there’s a lot of station-specific information in this package.

For starters, there are email, text and phone links for each of the stations, so contacting them couldn’t be easier. There are also buttons that bring you to the stations’ official websites and show you their last five songs played.

Finally, you can read blogs from the stations’ hosts, and read about any contest the stations are currently running. For an app focused on so few radio stations, it’s good to see that the stations that are played at least give you every bit of info you could want.

Whether you need to know what Canada’s five Virgin Radio stations plays on a daily basis is up to you, but if you find yourself wanting to know the top hits in Montreal, Virgin Radio is a good place to start. Especially if you plan on texting in requests.
