The prolific Muse, contemporaries of bands like Sigur Ros and The Dandy Warhols, and clearly influenced by the iconic bands Radiohead and U2, are at it again, this time with their new album The Resistance. With the official iPhone app ($2.99), get ready to immerse yourself in everything The Resistance and Muse.
To start, you can watch tons of Muse videos, not only from The Resistance, but from five other albums as well. You can find out about upcoming tour dates, upload your own “gig pics,” connect with a host of live feeds, and chat with fellow Muse fans. Not to mention, of course, the button the Resistance gets all to itself with 30-second song clips, a chance to buy the album, and a video that starts off with a hot drum solo, totally reeling me in to the Muse when I didn’t even start out a fan.
My very favorite part of this iPhone app was the “official images” of the Muse in New York City. (You can look up official images of the Muse in any city or country they’ve played where pics have been posted). Members with a fake snowman, on a professional football field, wearing an atrocious Lady Gaga hat, and chilling at what looked to be an animal taxidermy museum/situation of some sort. Priceless. And like any iPhone app worth making, there is still a chance to profit. The Muse Store is its own feature where you can buy T-shirts, sweatshirts, and yes, albums including, but not limited to, The Resistance.
