I love happy hour, so I’ve made it a point to check out a bunch of iPhone apps that specialize in beverage specials. Right away, the free Happy Hours iPhone app had something I loved: immediacy. I chose my city and was instantaneously given the lowdown on the happy hours nearby at the current time.
New York on a Saturday at 6 p.m., not surprisingly, has a ton of spots where you can enjoy bargain beverages. Getting up early on a Sunday morning to do some more work, I was surprised to find a happy hour at a bar called Blarney Cove that goes from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day! Ten dollars for six Coors Lights and $4 for wine. In Los Angeles, I found not one, but two, places serving drinks in the wee hours of the morning, one with a start-up time of 6 a.m. I’m not sure if $2 bottled beers (Sportsman Cocktail Lounge) is part of a complete breakfast, or a way to keep last night’s party still going, but if you want the information, it’s out there.
Other reasons to love this iPhone app are that you can create filters for special features, like which bars have live entertainment, outdoor seating, or Wi-Fi access. Also, aside from searching for deals in the city you’re in at the time of your quest, you can choose from many cities, and then neighborhoods within that city, at any time of the day or evening you’d like.
