With eduMonkey, math is fun

If you’re dying to see a monkey that resembles Abraham Lincoln, download the free eduMonkey. As a bonus, you can use this math app to learn your multiplication and addition tables.

Designed by eduMedia, the app is simple to use. Just set the monkey’s feet to point at two numbers and its hand will point to the product or sum.

The official description says the app was inspired by an old toy made in the United States. My 10-year-old cousin thought the design was weird–“It’s like Abraham Lincoln is looking at you, telling you to do your homework,” he said.

Graphics aside, my cousin gave eduMonkey a thumbs-up for being “really cool.”

Parents might have a hard time seeing the numbers because the font size is so small. Also, adult-sized fingers could make the app harder to use. When I tried sliding the monkey’s feet to different numbers, it would occasionally point in between numbers, making the product or sum hard to read.

But the app seemed to work well for its market audience–the 5th grader had no problems.
