After the first few levels of quickly moving through the level and timing your movements, you are gifted with a pair of rose-tinted glasses. These can be donned and removed at will, forcing any pink obstacle to disappear and reappear as needed. The game then swiftly becomes about timing the removal of the glasses to coincide with your needs – remove them to get past a spiky block, then quickly don them again to make the pink bridge reappear.
It’s Full of Sparks is firmly in the category of a puzzle platformer, but it incorporates a good deal of fast moments and quick reaction times as well. This adds additional depth to It’s Full of Sparks, making sure the player is always constantly attempting to get past the latest obstacle.
The scoring system at the end of each level awards you up to three stars depending on how fast you completed the level. To receive the maximum three stars, you need to essentially complete the level perfectly with barely any room for error.
This does create a slight problem for the perfectionist in every mobile gamer – when you finally complete a level after a few attempts, you are presented with the close, but no cigar reward of a measly two stars. “Only two?!” You’ll cry, offended at your own inadequacy. So, you play again and again, plus a few times more, until you finally get the full three stars.
But now you’ve got to do the next level.
It is easy to say that you don’t necessarily have to get three stars, but many gamers are going to feel ultimately compelled to do so, adding in a small layer of frustration to the otherwise entirely pleasant experience that is Full of Sparks.
