This is a game that makes your table (or any flat surface around you) into a battle ground! You take a picture of a scan and it will place a tower there and you have to defend yourself against all sorts of intruders. A worth game!

Holographium — The 3D Light Painting Machine
Not strictly AR, but holds many similar principals. This app lets you take a picture and create a hologram effect with colored text. It took me a few tries to get the right effect, but when it worked I was amazed to see my name written in thin air. Will bring the kid out in you!
