New iPhone apps worth downloading: Super Bowl XLVIII – NFL Official Program, Trailerpop update, The Room Two

Get ready for the Super Bowl with today’s first app worth downloading, Super Bowl XLVIII – NFL Official Program. It brings users the digital version of the program for the game, complete with a huge number of pages and lots of interactive elements unique to the mobile version. We’ve also got Trailerpop, an app that lets you view movie trailers, challenge friends to trivia games, and download or stream movies as you discover them. What’s it about? Grab the digital version of the Super Bowl’s official program, which comes with everything that appears in the commemorative print edition, plus interactive extras.

What’s cool? Fans attending the Super Bowl this weekend will have the ability to buy the official program, which contains some 288 pages of information about the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks, but they’re not the only people who can enjoy the program. If you’ve got an iPhone or an iPad, you can grab the digital version of the program, which includes all the information found in the print version, as well as video highlights from both teams’ seasons and other interactive elements like real-time Twitter feeds, current temperature listings at MetLife Stadium and even games for kids to play. There are also bonuses like music from the NFL Films archive, access to digital programs from the past nine Super Bowls (note that these and the XLVIII program are in-app purchases), and post-game updates with highlights.

The latest update to Trailerpop allows users to challenge their friends to trivia battles, and brings a new design to the user interface.

The Room Two ($2.99)

What’s it about? The sequel to the phenomenal puzzler is finally available to iPhone players, putting them in lots of strange new places, where they’ll have to use their wits to find the way forward.

What’s cool? Like its predecessor, The Room Two is all about finding yourself in a strange room and finding the way to proceed. Each room is home to strange objects, like boxes, crates, tables and more, all of which contains things like inlays and hidden drawers that can be manipulated. As you start to find these things and how they can be used, you’ll discover notes that tell the story behind the game and objects that can be combined with other items to solve still more puzzles. Each level is an intricate series of steps that you’ll need to solve to move on, and you’ll need to pay attention and think critically to solve them all. The Room Two was previously only available for iPad, but the app has gone universal so iPhone players can join in the puzzling fun as well.

Who’s it for? Players who like intricate, well-made puzzlers and room escape games should try The Room Two.
