You can’t throw a digital rock in the iTunes App Store without hitting a physics arcade games. The unrivaled king of these is Angry Birds, which is all about shooting things and judging arc, power and gravity. Sprinkle uses a similar shooting formula and requires a judgment of physics, but instead of destroying structures, your job is to save them by putting out fires with a huge water hose.
It’s kind of a great idea, working on the familiarity of similar games and their shooting mechanics while working in a new wrinkle for players to deal with: water. Shooting water through gaps and passages in some levels will cause it to double back on itself and prevent it from reaching flames; in other levels, you’ll need to bounce the water stream off other surfaces to reach the flames you need to hit.
Sprinkle can be tough – it often takes a while to figure out how the water will move in each level, or to hit the exact spots you need to with water in order to put out flames. It can get a little bit frustrating because Sprinkle requires a bit of trial and error to solve any given puzzle, but once you get the hang of it, pushing rocks with water and adjusting your shots becomes pretty easy, and putting out fires gets to be a pretty good time.
