The games controls are the most unique part about this app, and while they are very difficult to learn and can leave your hand feeling a bit cramped, once you get them down the game really opens up for you. You will probably pull off some really cool tricks totally by accident at first, but if you keep at it, you can really impress yourself. Some problems with the controls are that your fingers can distract you from the track itself. Learning how to maneuver each track involves a lot of trial and error. There are tons of medals and challenges to unlock, and there’s always something to work towards. I’ll be honest with all of you. I’m terrible at this game. I haven’t even made it past the second track yet. Nevertheless, I’m determined to keep playing, the game has me hooked.
The graphics are pretty good, though nothing special. The very detailed painted backgrounds really clash with the textures of the actual track, and it seems a little off. Still, all of that is a backdrop to the gameplay, which is unique and totally worth checking out. There are tons of bikes and locations to unlock, and lots of custom paint jobs for each bike, which is always fun. A really cool feature is the ability to save your best runs to share with your friends through YouTube and Facebook. The app will cost you $4.99. If you like the original game or just games like this one in general, then give Touchgrind BMX a shot.
