Reflekt (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)
Reflekt is an interesting take on the traditional matching puzzle game. Instead of having to put three or more colored blocks together to clear them, you have to deal with the top half of the puzzle and its reflection beneath a line dividing the two. The top puzzle you can manipulate, switching blocks with those adjacent to them, in order to try to make the pictures match the reflection. Each colored block that is placed into the corresponding spot with its reflection is cleared.
Puzzles in Reflekt come in three varieties — standard “color” mode, in which each of the blocks has a symbol and a color, which makes matching easier; “black and white” mode, in which only the symbols appear on the blocks, making matching a lot more difficult; and “just chill” mode, in which you’re no longer racing the clock to rack up points, but can just play at your own pace.
Epic War TD (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)
Tower defense is Epic War TD’s bag. The game is filled with enemies getting cut apart by your stationary weapons in a game with some pretty interesting and high-quality graphics, set in a sci-fi world that might remind some gamers of the PC’s StarCraft. You get 10 levels with as many as 60 waves of enemies for each, which means lots of tactical battles.
Epic War packs 14 types of enemies and five different towers for you to employ in your battles. It also includes an endless mode so you can play until you lose, and support from Game Center and OpenFeint for leaderboards and achievements.
700 Solitaire Games (iPhone, iPad) Free (was $0.99)
Yup, as you might have guessed, 700 Solitaire Games does, in fact, include 700 Solitaire games. And while many of those are slight variations on one another — it is, after all, solitaire in some form or another — you’ll still get all the lone-wolf card playing you can handle in one app, for absolutely nothing.
In addition to what you’d expect from 700 Solitaire Games, the app also lets you search through and filter out the multiple card game variations at hand, so you can find exactly the form of solitaire you’d like to play. It also supports music in the background from your iPod, so you don’t have to play in silence.
