GovWatch iPhone app ultimately about the power of one, not the people

If you ever wondered where Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) stands on hot-button issues, Issa talks about the investigation into the recent recall of over-the-counter pediatric products, and also releases a report titled “Who’s Right on Stimulus Job Creation? The Obama Administration’s Fiction vs. The American People’s Reality.” (I think I have an idea where Issa stands on this issue). By clicking on the GovWatch button, a steady stream of Issa’s thoughts and questions are at my disposal. His GovTweets intertwine personal and business. Here, he uses quirky teen language when he claims Aaron Schock’s Top 10 iPod picks (which include two different versions of “Life is a Highway”) “rock.” He shows sensitivity with his ode to mothers on Mother’s Day; though so as not to be mistaken for a softie, he still includes a link to his latest op-ed about financial reform.

Before checking GovWatch out, the description I read on iTunes made me feel like this app would allow everyday citizens, Republicans in particular, to somehow take back government politics they don’t agree with, but how could it? In reality, this app is just a record of where Issa stands on popular issues.
