The iTunes App Store is riddled with to-do iPad apps. From free to just shy of $20, you can grab something that will help you get things done. The challenge is to find a to-do iPad app that fits your style and doesn’t further complicate your busy schedule.
To-do iPad apps can be simple, and sometimes that’s all we need to keep on top of our tasks.
The key to Things, though, is that if I open it on my iPad and on my MacBook or iMac, it will automatically sync. This is invaluable to me. I need to have my tasks at hand no matter what device I’m using at any given moment, and it eliminates the need to sync via a Web service.
Is Things $20 good? I’m not sure. There’s no search function, and only individual tasks can be emailed, not whole lists (I like to be able to email a to-do list to a project partner, especially after a meeting). UIs between desktop, iPhone and iPad aren’t consistent (you can search Things on the iPhone and desktop versions).
What’s keeping me with Things is the Wi-Fi syncing between devices. But over the last couple of weeks, as my iPad has become an intrinsic part of my daily life, I’ve found myself using the $1 Sorted or the free EasyTask nearly every day.
