Politico, the political news Web site, has just released the free iPhone app. Politico first launched in January 2007 as a Web site and accompanying newspaper (they now also distribute political content via television and radio) to cover the 2008 presidential campaign. Since then, it has powered on through and kept going as a political news source.
The Politico iPhone app consists of some of the same essentials you can find on the Web: top news, blogs, 2010, Congress, and Politico 44—a living diary of the Obama presidency. In top news, I read a clear, easy to digest article about the difficult decision Obama is faced with regarding where to hold the Sept.11 trials. I then went on to read blog posts by Martin Kady II, which were set up so nicely that no matter what the content, I would come back to read more from this blogger. Each important point was prefaced with an explanatory title, and like other Politico articles, the language was easy to read, and complex points were written about in layman’s terms. If you’re a news junkie, chances are you like to read about news no matter what angle it’s coming from; and if not, the Politico iPhone app might be just what you’re looking for to stay in the loop: a free source of easily digestible news.
