The idea of having more than one joystick to control a video game isn’t exactly a new one. But while the occasional pre-PlayStation game would adopt the design, the use of dual sticks didn’t seem to take off until recent years.
Maybe the explanation is that shooters – which work especially well with dual-stick controls – have become more popular, but I doubt that. Possibly, it’s because gamers have grown up with dual analog sticks on console game controllers, or perhaps it’s that the industry as a whole is larger and there are simply more games.
Regardless, it should come as no surprise that the genre has been a hit on the iPhone as well. The following iPhone games prove that even when virtual, the dual-stick scheme can be just as fun.

is from the same people that brought us last year’s hit iDracula (also the maker of Guerrilla Bob), it’s very much a different game. While iDracula has a look that is more similar to Garters & Ghouls, Minigore almost looks like one of the Lego games that have become so popular.

That’s not an insult, either. The iPhone game boasts vibrant colors and to go along with smooth game play. It also has multiple characters and weapons in what is, overall, a solid package.
The $1.99 iPhone game also has announced plans for an update that will include a multi-player mode that works with either Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, though no release date has been set.
