Have you ever wished that you could much more easily compose photographs taken with your iPhone? Do you ever wish the iPhone camera came with some kind of leveling device or grid system that helped you ensure your horizons are level?
Me neither. But if I had, I would be grateful for Camera Level, an app available for 99 cents that, once calibrated, places your choice of gridlines or a line on the screen over the photo you’re trying to take. When you’ve got your photo lined up perfectly level, the grid or line turns green so you know you can take the perfect shot.
The grid overlay in Camera Level comes in handy when you’re concerned with taking a properly composed photograph, though if you care about stuff like that, you’re probably not using your iPhone camera.
To be honest, though, what I find most useful about Camera Level is the fact that the lag between moments when the camera is willing to take a picture is virtually eliminated.
This advantage is slightly marred by the fact that photos taken with Camera Level won’t appear in your camera roll for several minutes; sometimes it takes longer than 10 minutes for your photos to appear.
That might not be such a big deal, except for the fact that I find that I’m usually taking photos with my iPhone specifically to send them via MMS to friends. After 10 minutes, I’ve pretty much forgotten why I wanted to send it in the first place.
You’re better off spending an extra dollar and getting Snapture.
