The iPhone 16 features Apple’s new AI technology called Apple Intelligence, which includes advanced Siri capabilities, writing tools, article and notification summarization, audio transcription, and a Clean Up feature in the Photos app. However, these AI functionalities won’t be available until next month with the release of iOS 18.1.
Despite the delay in AI features, customers expressed excitement about the iPhone 16’s camera, which many cited as the main reason for upgrading. “I’ve been waiting for this iPhone because of the camera improvements,” said Maria Hernandez, who lined up early to get her hands on the new device.

“I take a lot of photos, so a better camera is always a big deal for me.”
To celebrate the iPhone 16 launch, the iconic glass cube at the Fifth Avenue store was adorned with colorful lights and decals featuring “iPhone 16” and “Hello Apple Intelligence.” This creative display has become a tradition for Apple when launching new products. Cook was accompanied by Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president of retail, as he opened the store and welcomed customers.
While the crowds seemed somewhat smaller than in previous years, the enthusiasm for the new iPhone remained high. The iPhone 16 launch also coincided with some controversy, as demonstrators in several cities called for a boycott of Apple products due to concerns over the company’s business practices. Additionally, accessory maker Anker recalled three of its power-related products, including two MagSafe clones, due to a potential fire hazard.
Despite these issues, many Apple fans remain excited about the iPhone 16 and its new features. As sales continue, it remains to be seen how well the new device will perform in the market.
