Maybe it’s a good thing I waited so long to download Zappos Mobile, the universal app for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, from Zappos.com, because I see my shoe collection growing quickly in the near future.
I loved using this app on my iPhone 4. Zappos has created a slick user experience that makes shopping the site’s wares — which range from shoes to clothes to housewares — intuitive and fun. The app works just like the normal Zappos.com, allowing shoppers to search for brand or keyword, or to browse through merchandise categories. Results can be displayed in list format, or, how I prefer, as swipeable images. Users can narrow their results through the “filter” button, inputting options such as gender, color, price and size, as well as sort results by price or popularity.
Tapping a result will give you more information, including product details and customer reviews. Zappos is known for providing alternate views of a product, and you’ll be able to scroll through these at the top of your screen. If you need to see an image more closely, double tap it, or hit the “enhance” button to see full-screen photos. When viewing your results, flick the screen down to add the item to the quick compare list, which will help you keep track of items in which you’re interested. Users who link their Zappos account to the app will be able to add items to their favorites list, which will then be available on the normal website. If you’re lucky enough to find your solemate through Zappos Mobile, add your size to your shopping bag and complete the purchase in-app. You’ll be able to track the purchase through Zappos Mobile once it ships, too.
In its last update, Zappos Mobile added video clips to product descriptions as well as the option to create a return. Really, the only thing I found missing in Zappos Mobile was support for VIP account holders (who get free overnight shipping). I’d love to see this added in the near future — without it, I’ll be shopping through Zappos Mobile, but purchasing through the VIP site.
