Less than 48 hours before Apple debuts its new iPhone and lays out more details about iOS 6, YouTube released a new and improved app that can be downloaded to iPhones and iPod Touch devices from the App Store.
This is a significant change in YouTube distribution on iOS devices as an Apple-configured version of Google’s leading online video service has been pre-installed on iDevices since the original iPhone came out in 2007. Moving forward (at least in the near-to-mid-term), YouTube will only be available on new devices as an independent application.
We are playing around with the new application just like the rest of the world. Stay tuned for a hands-on look at the new YouTube application. In the meantime, check out what the official YouTube blog has to say about the new app.
