The Yearbook Yourself app is a one-trick pony, but it’s a one-trick pony that brings laughs.
The app is a pared down version of the Yearbook Yourself Web site. Like the site, the application takes your existing profile pictures and gives them a throwback look from 90s bangs to 70s rockers cuts to 50s flare. All the pictures are in black and white and pretty stereotypical, which is part of the charm.
The integration between your photo and the generational pics isn’t perfect, but there are adjustment options for better blending. Some years will look better than others with your picture, but let’s be honest, it’s still quicker (and probably more proficient) than trying to Photoshop yourself.
The available adjustments and the range of photos are more extensive on the site, but the app provides enough variety. The main exception being that you can only do a single-person picture on the app whereas you can do multiple people in the same picture on the site.
If you find the novelty wearing off, which surely it will, and you have no shame, which most of us don’t –try it out on your pets. You’re probably the only one that’s going to be entertained, but it will be entertaining.
