I can remember at least a dozen times I’ve been in this predicament, and boy do I wish I had the free Yahoo! Sketch-A-Search iPhone app to find me a spicy tuna roll and Cosmopolitan, stat.
If you are more of a visual person than a numbers person like me, you no longer have to know the zip code of where you are to find a good restaurant. Simply pull out your iPhone, start up the Yahoo! Sketch-A-Search iPhone app and draw a circle with your finger around the area you wish to eat or imbibe in, select the type of restaurant and presto! The iPhone app gives you all the sushi restaurants-serving-Cosmopolitan joints in the area you circle. Simply marvelous!
Overall, the iPhone app is very well designed and user-friendly with an easy-to-use menu. The iPhone app is simple and to the point, allowing you to pick the type of restaurant, with a comprehensive list of choices such as “African,” “Dim Sum,” “just desert,” “fast food” and more. You can also pick the type of atmosphere — elegant, fun, quiet and more, as well as by three, four or five star ratings. The iPhone app definitely isn’t overdone; no clutter or excess baggage in this free search iPhone app. It gives you directions to the restaurant and direct access to call for reservations, should you need one.
The iPhone app currently only lists restaurants, but I can imagine that Yahoo! has more in store for us with future updates.
