Though many social-networking junkies prefer microblogging on the go with Twitter apps, there’s still plenty of room for the old-fashioned blog when you have more than 140 characters you want to share.
The WordPress app for iPhone and iPod touch app may be the answer.
Developed for mobile bloggers, WordPress allows users to manage and update blogs on the go. Whether you’re on the train or at the scene of a breaking event, your thoughts no longer have to wait.
Once synched to your WordPress blog, you can create a new post, attach photos stored in your library or take a snapshot using the iPhone’s camera.
Existing posts, pages and comments can also be managed, as well as the ability to import multiple blog accounts.
Admittedly, I don’t update my blog as much as I should, but this app makes it a breeze to post quick updates for friends and family.
While the iPhone’s touch-screen interface isn’t suited for typing long-winded entries, the recent iPhone OS 3.0 upgrades, such as cut-and-paste and landscape keyboard mode, provide a more integrated experience.
More advanced features, such as video embedding or HTML formatting, would be welcome additions.
