More important than Coke vs. Pepsi, McDonalds vs. Burger King or Charmin vs. Brawny, the toughest decision of our lifetime comes nearly every week as fantasy football owners across the country try to decide which players to start.
Almost without fail, you will make the wrong choice. I think it might actually be written in the fantasy football bylaws. When picking between two generally even-looking players, one of them will have a terrible game and the other will have a good game, and you will start the wrong one. But now Decision Maker Football ’10 has come to end this terrible conundrum, once and for all.
Decision Maker Football ’10, it should be pointed out, is wildly single-minded. It has basically one feature and three different sort options. That feature is to compare two different NFL players. The main sorting feature lets you choose any two players in the league. You can do so by position, or just compare a QB to a RB if you’d like (though that would be weird).
Another sort option lets you compare players by team, and the third by the games played that week. Neither of these options seems all that valuable, considering you really only need the option of comparing any two players, and your bases are covered, but perhaps the developer felt a need to provide more value to the app.
When you compare two players using the app, they’re rated in a number of categories, like the strength of their opponent, their overall skill and, of course, an overall ranking. Unfortunately the app doesn’t really explain the rankings or go much deeper than that. Sure, I suppose that’s all you need, but maybe a paragraph of explanation of why a player might or might not be a good play would be nice for the price.
I love the concept of Decision Maker Football ’10, and its general purpose is served with this app, but the whole package feels too bare-bones. There should be more here. More analysis, more explanation of the rating systems, more something. If you’re having a terrible time in your fantasy football season, you could still probably find value in this app, but it could be quite a bit more useful with some tweaking.
