Just last week, the world’s largest retailer Walmart unveiled its new iPad app and it’s been well received so far.
The iPad app offers the usual online shopping experience customers expect with the ability to ship to home, or pick up an item at a store. Customers can also see what’s in stock locally by choosing the branch nearest to them. The iPad app offers a clean, tidy experience that’s easy to use, but doesn’t offer too many bells and whistles.
The updated iPhone app, however, takes better advantage of the advanced capabilities iOS offers. It allows customers to create voice-activated shopping lists and let’s them scan both QR and barcodes.
Gibu Thomas, Walmart’s senior VP of mobile and digital told The Washington Post “We look at this as a great opportunity to help our customers shop better with Walmart and have a much more convenient way to access our low prices.” He also mentioned that the app is a “hit with shoppers”, but with just three reviews in the iTunes App Store that seems a little premature.
But, just in time for Black Friday and Cyber Monday in the upcoming weeks, Walmart is smart to get their apps in better shape for the forthcoming holiday shopping season.
