You may not have Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour’s hairstyle or extreme fashion-industry power, but that doesn’t mean you can’t style yourself according to her rules. The highly anticipated Condé NastVogue Stylist iPhone app (free) now makes that feat a bit easier.
Upon launching Vogue Stylist, you’ll need to register, which is done painlessly in-app. On the main screen, you’ll see a coverflow view of ads featured in Vogue’s most recent issue. Tap an image to view a list of the products featured, and then view individual items to see product name, description and price. You can use the GPS to find nearby retailers, share the item on Facebook, add the item to your closet or purchase the item through the iPhone app’s in-line browser when available.
With the “Stylist” tab, you’ll find a selection of monthly trends selected by Vogue editors (March’s include the floaty dress, tribal and the trench among others). Select one to see a suggested outfit to save in your closet, or lock items you like and hit “refresh” to see other choices. What makes Vogue Stylist more than just a shopping iPhone app the ability to actually style outfits with clothing and accessories you already own.
Select the camera icon to photograph your own items to add to the wardrobe tab. After taking the photo, you can tag the item by category, type, season, brand and color to help keep your digital closet neat and organized.
Vogue Stylist also features unlockable content, which includes special event invitations, shopping discounts, exclusive videos and sample offers. The iPhone app is still growing, but currently features brands such as Gucci, Kate Spade, Longchamp Paris, Nine West and Valentino.
