Between Brad and Angelina’s growing brood and Prince William’s recent engagement, there is always something salacious going on in the lives of the rich and famous.
And fueling the public’s insatiable appetite for celebrity news is the US Weekly iPhone app (free). But the app doesn’t seem to provide any tidbits or photos that can’t be found on any number of rival apps, such as People or E! Online.
The app is divided into three simple categories: “News,” “Photos” and “Tell Us.” The news section includes a scrolling list of headlines and related stories, such as “Mad Men’s January Jones Poses Nude for Versace.”
The photo category contains lots of themed galleries, such as “Bodies of 2010” and “Best Dressed Celebs of 2010.” The “Tell Us” section allows for some user interaction. You can share your thoughts on the latest celeb breakup, or Jennifer Aniston’s red carpet dress. Once you submit your response, you can see a real-time breakdown of the poll.
From what I could tell, the app doesn’t offer anything additional or distinct from similar apps. All the news hits and the photos are things I had already seen or read from other sources.
