If you want to know what’s going on at the restaurants, bars, and clubs in your area, check out the location-based buzzd app.
Buzzd uses a unique algorithm to pull data from the buzzd Web site and from Twitter, so you’re able to see tweets about a local bar and other buzzd user reviews. While you don’t need a buzzd account to use the app, you need one to “buzz” a venue, meaning you can tell the community where you and give it a quick review.
But buzzd has some confusing flaws. Results are returned based on location and not listed based on distance from you. Plus, they are ranked by places with the most buzz. Finally, location accuracy could be hit or miss — sometimes it was dead on, other times it was more than a mile off.
What I like most about Buzzd was the use of Twitter integration. As a heavy Twitter user, being able to see tweets from places in real time is extremely valuable. I also enjoyed the clean, simple interface and that the app is free.
While buzzd is still a new app on the iPhone — and needs work — I have a feeling it won’t be long before this app gains serious buzz.
