Turn your kitchen into a Korean restaurant with KFood Magazine iPhone app

Korean food is hot. Just ask the hundreds of people who line up on the sidewalks of Los Angeles waiting for a taste of Kogi beef tacos. But if you live in a locale that doesn’t brag lots of Korean restaurants, or you simply prefer to do you own cooking, check out the Kfood Magazine iPhone app ($2.99).

The app is basically a digitalized version of the magazine, which you can read by swiping through the pages, left to right. If you want to move between sections, you can do so via the “contents feature.”

The app is heavy on recipes, such as spicy chicken and vegetable stew, refreshing cucumber salad and stir-fried kimchi. Each recipe comes with a description, ingredient list and short demonstration video.

But the app is lacking many key features that would make it more usable for readers. First, there is no description of ingredients that might be foreign to non-Asian users, like where they can be purchased and how they should be handled.

In addition, the app lacks any sort of search tool, be it for recipes, ingredients, etc. It would be nice to look up where a reliable Korean market or restaurant is via ZIP code. It seems as though the app is geared toward people who are already familiar with Korean foods, not newbies.
