Top Forums Apps for 2010 on iPad

CapeCodOnline Pix App

CapeCodOnline Pix App is an amazing daily photo journal of Cape Cod, with the best images of the day along with interesting events. By far one of the best combination travel and news sites in photos. A great community-based app that really makes you feel like you know and are being shared with the best of the community.

I’m a long time Cape fan and visitor and this is a wonderful photo journal that other areas of the country should mimic. A great community feel with great information and photos.

Dexigner

If you are into design, Dexigner is a great app for design news, events, competitions, and articles on the design world in general.

The home screen is very sparse though and the icons are very small- my only knock- otherwise I would have given in 5 bars. It would be better serviced if Dexigner took some tips from Flipboard and provided bigger interactive icons for its news section.

GameOn Forums – Gaming Community

GameOn Forums has now been extended to iPad and it’s really nicely arranged as opposed to accessing the forum via Safari. Good navigation between threads, gaming news and talk, and with a profile set up you can have your messages delivered into the app.

Other topical forums looking to establish an iOS app should look at this implementation as the current gold standard for how it should be done and try to build off of it.

Cool Hunting

This app looks great on iPad from the main page. Some article images are a little blurry when you drill down otherwise I’d give it five bars. But this is a slick app for anyone watching the design space!
