The Entertainment Expo may be over, but there’s still plenty of fun to be had on your Android. A number of shooter and strategy games saw increased activity this week, with new releases such as Tank Reckon joining the Android family.
Without further ado, here are the top Android games of the week:
Battle and shooter games
Chillingo launched new iPhone games this week, but it still has several Android titles to enjoy. Meteor Deluxe WVGA is one of its best Android games, with high-resolution graphics. The game, which is about $4.50, mimics a block-breaker game, but takes place in outer space. Save your rocket ship as you blast your way through the galaxy’s obstacles.
Battle for Mars has an updated version, with new multi-player options for gameplay. The $4.99 Android game tests your strategy skills to operate soldiers, robots and spacecrafts to ward off attacking aliens. Gaining traction, the multi-player premium version can be a lot more exciting than battling aliens alone.
Released by Lone Dwarf Games, Tank Reckon for Android takes you straight to the battlegrounds. The free game puts you in the driver’s seat of a war tank, with a missile guide that helps you aim and shoot out your enemies.
Brain-teasers and more
Crusade of Destiny is the first title from DVide Arts to move to the Android Market. For $5.99, the full-scale 3D RPG game is a fantastic adventure with a magical theme, pitting you against dragons and other ferocious creatures. With a successful Crusade launch, we hope to see more titles from DVide Arts for Android soon.
As Scoreloop’s game platform partners with IdeaLabs, more titles will make their way to the Android Market. Gameloft’s Brain Challenge is one such game. The $2.99 game is an interactive series of logic puzzles, keeping your brain active and on its toes. Puzzles are quick and are designed to help your overall concentration skills.
ColorBlock also received an update, thanks to its new Scoreloop deal. The free Android game has a simple theme—get three boxes of the same color to line up in a row. With the Scoreloop update, ColorBlock now has leaderboards, rankings and other social features.
Joyland Bounce has released an update, with new game play modes and improved graphics. For about $1.50, this casual game takes you through a number of challenging levels, filled with obstacles your bouncing hero must navigate in order to restore order in the heavens.
