These iPhone games give your fingers a workout

As much as I go on about the awesomeness of the iPhone’s built-in accelerometer, you’d think it was the only unique feature the device has to offer gamers.

And while it may be my favorite part about iPhone games, the most obvious difference between it and other systems is the touch screen controls. Sure, the Nintendo DS has a touch screen, but it also has the standard Nintendo buttons to fall back on – iPhone games don’t have that luxury.

We’ve seen the iPhone’s multi-touch technology used to varying degrees of success over the past few years. The downside is that the user’s screen is often restricted by virtual buttons or their actual finger, but at the same time, there are all kinds of options when it comes to controls and this can lead to more diverse gaming experiences.

The following iPhone games could have suffered when it comes to controls, but instead they use the touch screen to their full advantage.

Ace Pitcher: Legend of Baseball

iPhone game may be closer to solid instead of spectacular control-wise, but the iPhone game certainly makes use of the touch screen. In the game, you are under attack and forced to shoot down missiles before they blow you up.

The deeper you get into the game, the more hectic it gets, though the does an excellent job of remaining responsive while a lot of stuff is going on.

The 99-cent iPhone game also has very nice graphics that are somewhat reminiscent of geoDefense when you start getting multiple explosions. The camera also constantly moves, giving the game a very cool feel.
