If you are trying to get your morning off to a good start, grab a cup of coffee and pop open Today Show iPhone app. With content as strong as its aesthetic design, this app should be at the top of the list for iPhone owners who can’t live without their morning talk shows.
Like other news or entertainment-related apps, ‘”Today Show” is organized by subject categories, including “Food and Wine,” “Relationships,” “Health,” and “Tech & Money.” One big and instantly noticeable difference, however, is how those categories are presented.
Instead of the dull vertical lists found in other apps, “Today Show” categories are presented in visually appealing boxes that include a photo and top-story headlines. The boxes are stagnated horizontally across the screen, so you simply scroll from left to right to find the category you want. The design alone makes it a pleasure to use the app.
The content, while heavy on soft news and entertainment-related stories, is compelling. It includes a nice balance of tight, Web-appropriate written stories as well as dozens of video clips. The video clips are well produced and edited, running in length from two minutes to six minutes.
If your eyes are busy with other things, you also can listen to just the audio of “The Today Show.”
