Take a picture and ColorSnap finds the matching paint

Sherwin-Williams’ ColorSnap is pretty cool if you get your kicks from matching colors.

Take a picture, select a color within that pic, and the ColorSnap app will identify Sherwin-Williams’ name for that color and give you a corresponding palette of two complementary colors. You can create your own library of saved colors and you can also search for Sherwin-Williams locations.

ColorSnap helps you avoid standing in the department store thinking, “Is this the same green as the kitchen towels?” Not a question that everyone asks themselves, but for the ones that do, it’s a welcome assistant.

You’re susceptible to the same technological restrictions you would if you were looking at a color on your computer screen. There will be slight variations even as you move the iPhone from side to side; it’s not anything to fret about, but certainly be aware.

The Sherwin-Williams ColorSnap app holds up well against Benjamin Moore’s Ben Color Capture, but Benjamin Moore also lets you pick any color from a color wheel (nice if you don’t have something specific to take photograph).
