Streetbike: Full Blast isn’t a thrill a minute, and the controls take some customizing to get right, but at the end of the day it offers a solid and robust racing experience for anyone who feels like getting their thrills on a superbike.
The game guides players through its main racing mode, upping the difficulty gradually with each subsequent race. That’s a good thing, too, as it will give players plenty of time to customize the controls to their own preference.
The game defaults you to steering by your iPhone, but between the steering and the buttons to control acceleration and breaking, I found it was all I could do to stay on the road, let alone remain competitive in a race. A quick switch to on-screen steering controls and auto acceleration, and it felt like I was playing a brand new game. The level of customization should increase replay value tremendously for players who want to ease their way into the experience.
There’s plenty to ease into, too. There are numerous bikes that can be unlocked as players win races and earn money, and multiple leagues and courses to race in. No one who downloads Streetbike: Full Blast will be able to complain about a lack of content.
Streetbike would be a huge winner if the sense of speed was a bit more pronounced, but there’s just a little too much to worry about on-screen to ever feel like you’re really cruising as you race. It still makes for a solid and fun racing game, but the closest it comes to exhilarating is when you accidentally steer into the back of a truck and watch your rider take a few seconds to pick himself off the ground. If you can handle that, Streetbike: Full Blast is a fun little racing game.
