There are plenty of iPhone apps out there that seem useful on the surface, but in the end don’t provide any information you couldn’t get by a quick Google search. Others, Nest Egg included, prove themselves to be more useful than you would’ve thought.
Nest Egg is a handy finance app that calculates, based upon preset numbers that the user selects regarding yearly retirement income and annual inflation rate percentage, how much yearly income you’ll need to make in retirement. It also calculates how much money you’d need to save each year before you retire.
Though those two figures would seem to go hand in hand, Nest Egg breaks them down into separate categories, giving those out there who are less financially savvy the opportunity to see exactly how much money they will need to save for their future.
The interface is very simple, with only a few menus to click through, and the app does contain a robust help page that explains just about any question one could have when using the app. These features alone make it a decent finance app.
It doesn’t go above and beyond its intended goal of giving a quick look at how much you need to save to retire, but for 99 cents, it doesn’t necessarily need to.
