Solitaire iPad game a great way to waste time

I’ve been frittering away my time since elementary school by playing Solitaire, and back then, it was with these rectangular cardboard things called playing cards.

For my fellow time-wasters, The Solitaire iPad app (Free) is that basic game of Solitaire you’ve been looking for. It’s free, though of course that means ads. But it’s just one ad, that pops up every few games or so, and it is for another app by the same developer. One tap and the ad is gone (I tried tapping “View app” and checking it out in the iTunes App Store hoping that would make it go away, but it didn’t work).

Choose one- or three-card deal.  Cards can be moved by swiping them in the direction you want them to go (works great for one or two cards, but if the stack is large, it doesn’t fly across the screen as well).

Scores are kept by time and number of moves, and you can choose to post those globally. (I have a score at 40th best. There’s some genius with the initials SJL who dominates the scoreboard—best time 1 minute 18 seconds!)

View your Personal and Worldwide Scores anytime by tapping “Scores.”
