Skee-Ball HD brings arcade game to your iPad

The best things about any boardwalk are the addicting arcade games. Skee-Ball is absolutely one of the best classic arcade games that has ever existed. Freeverse has already created an entertaining skee-ball game for the iPhone, and now that same thrill is available for the iPad, in Skee-Ball HD ($1.99).

The game is perfect for the iPad’s giant screen, allowing your finger to swipe up from the bottom of the screen to the top in order to throw the ball. The faster you swipe, the farther the ball will travel. There is definitely some skill necessary to land a ball in the 100-point rings in the corners. You can play the game with or without spin control. With spin control on, you can tilt your iPad left or right to curve the ball after your throw. This is especially helpful in correcting balls that were thrown off course.

You get nine balls to score as many points as you can. At times, a specific ring will light up, offering a multiplier if the ball goes in. This will increase your score significantly, and allow for more tickets at the end. You’ll collect tickets at the completion of each game, which can be redeemed for prizes. These prizes are simply images on a virtual shelf that can be viewed at any time. You also can get more items via the in-app purchase.

The game looks great, and the physics are much more realistic than other, similar titles. The gameplay makes this app just as addicting as a real boardwalk skee-ball game. It’s unfortunate that the app isn’t universal between the iPhone and iPad, but it’s still a worthwhile purchase.
