Rolls Royce Ghost iPhone app far from spooky

The Rolls Royce Ghost iPhone app (free) has basically one job –  make the Rolls Royce Ghost appealing to a variety of consumers. Thanks to a sleek, easy to use interface and a series of photos that qualify as car porn, that mission has been accomplished.

The biggest draw for the Rolls Royce Ghost app is the “Design Your Ghost” feature, where you can customize the exterior paint, interior trim, seat color, wheels, and optional features like sunroofs.

It’s fairly comprehensive, at least in regards to things you could actually put on a Rolls Royce. The details you select are all instantly adapted to a digital version of the car right before your eyes, and while the image isn’t perfect, with a bit of a jagged look to it, that’s about the only visual foible of the app.

The rest of the photos and videos contained on the Rolls Royce Ghost app look very good. It’s hard to beat hi-res photos of a cool-looking car in desert terrain, though.

For an iPhone app with such a solid design and layout, it was surprising to find that portions of the app, like the “Find Dealer” feature, opt to open up in an outside browser. With many iPhone apps adapting internal browsers to their apps, it was disappointing that Rolls Royce Ghost didn’t do the same.

It certainly takes users out of the experience to be shuttled off to an off-site browser. Though given how impressive the photo library is, chances are car buffs won’t be able to stay off of the Rolls Royce Ghost app for very long.
