I don’t eat at Taco Bell, Wendy’s or White Castle regularly so I don’t use this app to track my daily eating habits. But it sure comes in handy when you have a craving for a Dairy Queen Blizzard. Restaurant Nutrition includes a map that I used to find a DQ and to locate a Panera Bread outlet for a meeting.
Of course, when you do find yourself in one of the chain restaurants featured on this app, it does provide the info you want.
At Panera, I planned to order broccoli cheddar soup in a bread bowl until I looked up the nutritional info. The bread bowl alone has 590 calories, plus another 240 for the soup. Instead, I ordered a salad with chicken and dressing for a total 620 calories.
The Restaurant Nutrition app was designed to let registered users track their meal plans. But I have a hard time believing any doctor would recommend somebody on a diet eat at the restaurants listed in this app.
Plus, most major chains now have the nutrition counts available for you in the restaurant so the information provided is not groundbreaking. On the other hand, some restaurants don’t make that information easy to spot, so having it in the palm of your hand could save you a few calories.
Still, I found the most useful function of this app to be the map. Just in case you need to find a restaurant to satisfy a sudden craving–or use the restroom.
