Right out of the gate I was impressed with the available restaurant selections on the Fast Food Calorie Counter app ($1.99). I pine for Cincinnati’s famous Skyline Chili like you wouldn’t believe now that I’m living in Chicago, so I was excited to see such a regional cuisine included in this app. In fact, the app includes a lot of slightly more upscale fast food restaurants from all over the country like Sweet Tomatoes, Pei Wei, Five Guys and Chipotle.
You can even track your daily calories with the app. And, a really cool function is it displays your running tally on the menu shortcut for the app throughout the day. So it’s easier to say no to the Snickers my coworker gave me when I already know I ate 680 calories at Chipotle for lunch.
I’m a fairly healthy eater, and I don’t frequent fast food joints. However, I do sometimes need to rein in my Starbuck’s consumption, which this app will help me with thanks to the daily reminders that the Pumpkin Spice Latte with whipped cream I imbibed this morning had 260 calories.
I’ll also use it for road trips to decipher the healthiest lunch options before pulling up to the drive-thru window.
