Rachael Ray’s TastyBytes worth salivating over

Rachael Ray has become synonymous with down-to-earth, family cooking. And her iPhone app, TastyBytes, closely matches her reputation for producing quick and easy recipes.

TastyBytes allows users to browse via meal type and main ingredient, very handy features when all you have in the refrigerator is a block of Gruyere cheese and some stale French bread (hello, croque monsieur!).

Other categories include Newest Recipes, Family-friendly Recipes and Budget-friendly Recipes, sure the be a favorite with poor college students.

Among the tasty recipes offered on the app is the crunchy tuna burger, steak swap Cobb salad and quesadilla casserole. There are some nice seasonal and holiday options, like cider gravy and dark greens with cranberries.

Surprisingly, there is no vegetarian or vegan category. And interactive features are nowhere to be found. It would have been nice if the app included some video clips of Ray cooking, or a forum for user comments and tip-sharing.
