The weekly Top 20 alone is reason enough to snag Travelzoo, and since these deals often go fast, the ability to book through the in-line browser or calling the agents directly is paramount. You’ll be able to see full details of the offer or share via Twitter or email. Travelzoo’s new local deals are displayed based on your GPS location, and can be purchased in-app. You can create an account and store your credit-card info for faster buying, and your Travelzoo vouchers will be accessible in-app. If you’re on the road, the “Deals in Other Cities” section shows local deals available across the country. It’s important to note that this section and its corresponding search only work with local deals, not travel deals.
The “Travel Deals” section is where you’ll find the top deals of the day and can browse listings for airfare, hotels, vacations, cruises, car rentals, entertainment and last-minute trips. Aside from a quick browse of the Top 20, this is the section of the app I see getting the most use, so I was floored that there is no search function available. Users can narrow their focus to region or city, depending on the category, but I’d love for the app to have a universal search that would pull in all available deals for a particular location. I think this omission will make for some crabby jetsetters.
Even without the search, I’d still recommend the Travelzoo app to anyone who likes to hit the road. Snag it free, and cross your fingers that a search function is in the works for a future update.
