When it comes to business task management apps Producteev – Cross Platform and Free Task Management, available for iPhone and iPod Touch, is a solid option for tracking productivity and assigning tasks. Although the app may be worth a look if you’re looking for a workplace solution, and have the cash behind you to upgrade to Producteev Pro, for a regular Joe looking for a task manager, Producteev’s robustness is its detriment.
Producteev is by no means complicated to use—in fact, its redesigned GUI and the fact that its usable across many platforms is ideally suited for multi-user scenarios—but individual consumers simply don’t need this much functionality for a typical to-do list.
I love that Producteev syncs across all platforms automatically, but I wish that all of Producteev’s features were available in the app. As it stands, to add users to your workspace list you’ll have to log-on to the web portal. I also find it odd that with support for so many platforms (email, Mac, Windows 7, etc.) that there isn’t a dedicated iPad version. There are plenty of options when it comes to task creation, such as tagging, assigning, specifying importance and creating deadlines. Tasks can be reordered and support the creation of sub-tasks, which is helpful for complicated duties.
But despite all the good features of Producteev, it’s worth noting that the best features of Producteev, including the ability to create multiple workspaces and to collaborate with more than two users on a particular workspace, are only available to pro users. Licenses range from $20 a month for one pro workspace to $4 a piece for 20-plus work spaces. Yearly plans are also available.
