There are times when dealing with digital media that your pictures will be oriented incorrectly. You can’t blame the computer, because it just doesn’t know. It’s a bit irritating, and unless you have that convenient “rotate clockwise” button, you’ll be stuck with a crick in your neck after looking through the album. I have come across this problem before, but never on my iPhone. On the iPhone itself, as long as you took the pictures with the device, you probably won’t ever come across this problem. The iPhone has sensors in it that tell the device the orientation the picture was taken in. The only way this would not function as such is if you took a picture directly up or directly down. In a case like this, the gravity will confuse the sensor and might select the incorrect orientation, thus requiring an app such as PhotoRotate. However, I have never had such issues.
In regards to the app itself, there is literally nothing to it. You tap the icon, and it will bring you to a screen with an ad at the top (free version) and four buttons on the bottom. You select a pic, rotate it, then save it. That’s it.
I really wish they would have spent five more minutes on the icon. It always bums me out when I have to look at those ridiculous icons on my springboard. I just want to ask, do you have anyone creative on your team?! Get it if you need it. If you’re still wondering why you would need this, just move it along smartly.
