Meh. NotifyMe just doesn’t do it for me. I love a reliable and easy to use app as much as the next guy, but this no-frills “get-things-done” app has, well, no frills. All the cool features are listed in the developer’s “coming soon” section. What’s up with that?
The app I purchased for $3.99 is mind numbingly boring. I mean, I get the intent—NotifyMe is supposed to be simple. It was designed to supplement, not supplant, other task management systems. Ok, fine. But still.
I can’t customize events, alert myself to something ahead of time, or delegate a task to someone in my Contacts. All I can do with my version of the app is jot down reminders and set events outside of my Calendar.
Don’t get me wrong, the app is bullet-proof. My reminders functioned perfectly, and the push notification worked like a charm. If all I wanted was a notepad for reminders, I’d endorse this app all the way.
Because I know that get-things-done apps can do much more, I can’t get on board with NotifyMe. I want something that can do cool things now, not later. I want customized fields, multiple alerts, and integration with Calendar and Contacts.
Right now, NotifyMe is far too sparse, and the only thing that sets it apart from the free version of the app is the absence of a nag screen and the ability to add more than three reminders. That’s what I get for $3.99? No thank you. My advice is to wait till the Coming Soon features arrive, or find a get-things-done app that has them already.
