Download the Napa Valley Wine Tour app ($2.99) to your phone for tips and information from local tour guides. The app includes maps, winery information, photos and inside information from folks who have visited these wineries thousands of times.
Or, head farther north for a trip filled with culture, wine and food in Washington wine country. The Yakima Valley My Perfect Days app ($4.99) promises trips to charming venues free of tourist traps.

Californians can download the free California Farmers’ Market Finder app to find similar information. This app is a database of more than 500 farmers’ markets. You can sort markets by distance, city and by day of the week that it is open. The Urban Market app (99 cents) originated to help residents of the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas, area locate nearby farmers’ markets, but has expanded to include markets all over North America.
