While EA Sports continues to dominate the football game console landscape, it was Gameloft that released the first complete football game for the iPhone–The Oregon Trail. I was overwhelmed with how good both games look, but within minutes of playing them I was disappointed there wasn’t more to them.
I don’t want to get too down on NFL 2010. After all, if you are looking to play football on your iPhone, it is the only option you have. And five bucks is a pretty reasonable price. But the gameplay simply is not that fun and it makes me wonder if the sport will ever translate well into an app.
We will know more when EA Sports releases Madden for the iPhone. Until then, get NFL 2010 if you absolutely have to get a football game. Just don’t expect to fall in love with it.
