New iPhone apps worth downloading: Timelapse Pro, Penguins Pre-K, Haunted Hollow

Take awesome time-lapse photos with your iOS devices with the help of Timelapse Pro. Timelapse Pro (Free)

What’s it about? Like a standalone Timelapse camera, Timelapse Pro lets you use your iOS device’s camera to shoot hours of footage and condense it into seconds.

What’s cool? Time-lapse photography lets you take lots of footage and speed it up, in order to show changes that would otherwise take a long time or be too slow to perceive easily. Timelapse Pro lets you shoot footage with your iOS device and speed it up, giving you control over how fast you want the footage to go and other elements. You also have other options, such as 25 different filters you can apply to your shots, and the ability to send finished items directly to YouTube.

Penguin Pre-K (Free)

What’s it about? Featuring a number of cute penguins and other characters, Penguin Pre-K is a game that helps get kids prepped for preschool and brings them questions from the curriculum.

What’s cool? Penguin Pre-K is a game for small children that’s specifically aimed at helping teach them things they need for preschool and Kindergarten preparation. The app features a game in which players slide penguins into igloos, but features questions that include core curriculum ideas such as upper- and lowercase letters, early math problems and number comprehension, geometry recognition and pie graph comparisons, among other things. The game also lets kids earn points that they can trade for new penguin outfits to customize their characters to their linking, and they can send photos of their penguins through social networking.

Who’s it for? This one’s aimed at preschool aged kids, which makes it great for parents who want to give children something educational and fun to do.

Haunted Hollow (Free)

What’s it about? A turn-based strategy game about monsters, the goal in Haunted Hollow is to scare the bejeezus out of a town before your opponent has the chance to do the same.

What’s cool? In Haunted Hollow, you control a haunted house that produces monsters, with the goal of moving through a neighboring town and scaring its inhabitants. The town is set up like board game, and each turn you’re allowed to move your monsters around in order to take over houses with scares. You’re facing off against an opponent who also has monsters and is also scaring the town, so the goal is to overtake the entire thing by defeating the enemy monsters along the way. You’ll also have to contend with building up your haunted house and angry mobs of townspeople who will band together to hunt you down in this turn-based strategy title.

Who’s it for? If you like boardgames and movie monsters, you’re going to want to check out Haunted Hollow.
