What’s cool? Swell Radio skips delivering music streaming services to iOS users, and instead supplies them with information. The app specializes in radio stations and programs of a more newsy variety, bringing programming from the likes of CBS News, NPR, TED Talks, ESPN and BBC, among others. You can listen to shows from specific topics like news, politics or comedy, and the app will scan through your Twitter feed to provide you with recommended content based on who you follow. The big new update to Swell Radio adds features like a “like” button that lets you tag content you’d like to hear more of, the ability to program hourly news updates from specific sources, a search feature, and a sleep timer for when you’re listening at night.

You can use CellMaps to check coverage maps from various companies down to the street level, and check coverage of various cellular services, such as 3G, 4G LTE and more. The app also includes a search feature that lets you find out what the coverage should be like at a given address, and a stream of info and news about mobile service that can help you make an informed decision.

Pirate Legends TD ($0.99)
What’s it about? Protect your pirates and fight of various oncoming enemies in tower defense title Pirate Legends TD.
What’s cool? The seas are perilous in Pirate Legends, and your job is to utilize your strategic planning and a whole mess of towers to fight off those dangers. Pirate Legends is a tower defense title, which means players purchase and place defensive structures to take down approaching enemies before they can reach the player’s vulnerable base. Pirate Legends provides players with 20 different towers to utilize, as well as extra capabilities like firing their ships’ guns and unleashing a Kraken, in order to protect their treasure and fight off attacking enemies. The game includes 12 battles to fight and four bosses to destroy along the way, as well.
Who’s it for? Fans of tower defense looking for a different take will find things to like about Pirate Legends.
