Side-by-Side: Dual Column Task Manager (Free)

What’s it about? Side-by-Side doubles the amount of task management you can do at any given time, separating phone calls users need to make from the rest of their tasks.

What’s cool? For business people especially, to-do lists can often be littered with items that don’t really qualify as to-do list items. Often, phone calls and meetings that take place during the day crowd your list, making it hard to concentrate on actual tasks that can be completed while waiting on someone else. Side-by-Side caters to those users, allowing them to pull calls into a separate column while still displaying everything they have to do in a single task list. Side-by-Side also integrates with your iOS device’s other functions, like its Calendar and calling apps, so you can keep up with your tasks and fire off calls directly from the app.

Who’s it for? Users who rely on task manager apps might find some handy additional functions in Side-by-Side.

Thesaurus Rex ($2.99)

What’s it about? Thesaurus Rex looks to modernize the thesaurus by making it fast and agile, allowing you to quickly find the words you’re looking for without a lot of hassle.

What’s cool? Looking up words on thesaurus websites or in print books is useful, except that you’ll often find yourself digging through lists of words that don’t really fit what you need. With Thesaurus Rex, you can filter your search results through a number of criteria, like character count, word complexity and even rhymes. The app is built specifically for people such as students and writers, who not only need another way to say something, but who have specific considerations about which words they need and why. Thesaurus Rex lets you save a list of your favorite synonyms and antonyms, and also includes features such as an online mode and audio pronunciations.

Who’s it for? If you need a thesaurus in everyday life, Thesaurus Rex offers a ton of features that you’ll find useful.

Running With Friends (Free)

What’s it about? Running With Friends makes endless running titles competitive by allowing players to compete against friends as they flee from charging bulls in Pamplona, Spain.

What’s cool? Like other 3-D running titles, Running With Friends gives you a perspective behind your character and tasks you with running along a course, grabbing pick-ups and dodging obstacles by either jumping over them, sliding under them, or shifting into one of the road’s three lanes. You’ll have to keep clear of bulls and lots of other potential dangers to rack up points, but the cool thing about Running With Friends is that you can compete against other players, including your friends, to see who’s the best runner.

Who’s it for? If you’re a fan of endless running titles and enjoy a little competition, Running With Friends will be right up your alley.

What’s it like? Temple Run 2 remains one of the definitive examples of this kind of runner, and you’ll find similar mechanics (and a lot of fun) in One Epic Knight
